The Division Finally Gets 60 FPS Patch on PS5

Ubisoft has officially released a performance update for Tom Clancy’s The Division on PlayStation 5, enabling 60 FPS gameplay nearly a decade after the game’s original launch. The update went live on December 16, 2025, bringing smoother performance to Sony’s current-generation console years after Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S players received a similar enhancement.

The announcement was shared directly by Ubisoft on X, confirming the update without prior notice. “Agents, The Division is now available on PlayStation 5 with enhanced performance at 60 FPS. This update brings smoother gameplay to the snow-covered streets of New York where it all began,” the studio stated. The patch removes the original 30 FPS cap on PlayStation hardware, allowing the game to take fuller advantage of the PS5’s capabilities.

Tom Clancy’s The Division is an online-only action RPG set in a crisis-stricken Manhattan following a devastating smallpox outbreak. Players take on the role of sleeper agents tasked with restoring order in a city facing widespread societal collapse. Known for its snowy atmosphere, tactical combat, and shared world design, the game originally launched on March 8, 2016, for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.

While the title has remained playable on newer hardware through backward compatibility, performance parity across platforms has been uneven. Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S players have been able to play The Division at 60 FPS since 2021 thanks to Microsoft’s FPS Boost program. Until now, PlayStation 5 users were limited to the original console performance profile, making this update a long-requested change within the community.

The PS5 update appears to focus solely on performance, with no mention of additional visual upgrades or new content. Ubisoft has not detailed whether resolution targets or other technical parameters were adjusted alongside the frame rate increase. Even so, the jump to 60 FPS significantly improves responsiveness, camera motion, and overall fluidity during combat and exploration.

The Division has maintained a dedicated player base over the years, bolstered by its distinctive setting and live service structure. Despite being the first entry in the series, it continues to attract returning players, especially during seasonal events and updates tied to the broader Division franchise.
