Microsoft and Bethesda Softwork’s upcoming action role-playing game, The Elder Scrolls VI, is currently “quite playable”, based on a new rumor.
During the latest episode of The Xbox Two podcast, co-host Jez Corden mentioned hearing that the core of The Elder Scrolls VI is done or approaching being done, and that the game is currently in a “quite playable” state.

According to Corden, when he did his predictions for the Xbox Games Showcase held on June, 8, 2025, he expected The Elder Scrolls VI to make an appearance at the event. While that didn’t end up happening, he said that he had made an “educated guess.” It was likely based on something he had heard behind the scenes prior to the showcase.
Not much is known about the sixth entry in The Elder Scrolls series. Back in September, 2024, during an interview on the KIWI TALKZ YouTube channel, former Bethesda Game Designer Bruce Nesmith was asked about the title of Elder Scrolls VI alone raising expectations because The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim was a landmark for open world role-playing games, and the difficulty of controlling said expectations. In response, he said that the upcoming action role-playing game is undoubtedly going to be amazing, but it’s going to be compared to all the previous games that Bethesda made, much like how every studio’s games are compared to their previous products. As such, he believes that the expectations of fans are going to be nearly impossible to meet.
Earlier, the same game designer had mentioned that the game systems that were developed in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim will be further developed for The Elder Scrolls VI. He added that his “fingerprints” will be present on many of those elements. Regarding the Magic system from The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim, Nesmith mentioned that he persuaded Todd to let him restart it from scratch. He believes there will probably still be traces of the system he designed in The Elder Scrolls VI.
