Naughty Dog president and The Last of Us series director Neil Druckmann appears to have dropped a teaser for Part 3.
Neil Druckmann (via NextGenPlayer on Twitter/X), the president of Naughty Dog and the director of The Last of Us series, took to Instagram to share a nostalgic post about his old sketches from 2003 for the first game’s pitch to Sony Interactive Entertainment. The original concept involved a man, his surrogate daughter, and a trek across a broken America. While Ellie didn’t end up being Joel’s surrogate daughter and the stakes were much higher than a simple trek, the fundamental narrative beat remain in the final game.

Lastly, while remembering his work on the series, Druckmann seemed to have dropped a small teaser for The Last of Us Part 3, talking about the “few stops” that remain on this journey. “Been a wild journey. Grateful for every part of it, especially the few stops that remain on the road ahead,” he said.
During an interview in April, 2025, Druckmann was asked to shed light on his earlier comment about having a concept or an outline for a third entry, him recently saying that fans shouldn’t bet on it happening, and what caused this change in vision. In response, he clarified that The Last of Us Part 3 is not in development. However, he added that if stars align and everything comes into place, something may happen well.
A month prior, known industry insider DanielRPK claimed The Last of Us Part 3 is already in an advanced stage of production. If the game is indeed in development, it’s unlikely for Druckmann to confirm its existence before an official announcement.
