Nintendo and Sony Pictures Entertainment’s The Legend of Zelda live-action movie will reportedly begin filming in November, 2025.
According to the details mentioned on productionlist.com (via), The Legend of Zelda live-action movie adaptation will begin filming later this year in November, 2025. According to the shoot schedule listed on the movie’s page, filming will take place in New Zealand, starting from November 04, 2025, and ending on April 07, 2026.

Movie insider DanielRPK has claimed that Nintendo and Sony Pictures Entertainment are aiming to build The Legend of Zelda film into a trilogy. According to him, the actors involved with the movie will be signed for three films that are planned for production over the course of 6 years.
As per the project summary stated on The Legend of Zelda movie’s page on productionlist.com, the live-action adaptation follows Link, a young warrior destined to protect the magical kingdom of Hyrule from the forces of darkness. The land is under threat from Ganon, a ruthless warlord who seeks the Triforce – an ancient relic said to grant limitless power. To stop him, Link must embark on a perilous journey, battling monstrous creatures, exploring treacherous dungeons, and solving intricate puzzles to uncover sacred artifacts that can aid him in his quest.
Avi Arad, Joe Hartwick Jr., and Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto will each assume the role of producer on the project. Meanwhile, Derek Connolly, who has previously worked on movies like Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (2018), Pokémon Detective Pikachu (2019), and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (2019), will serve as the writer.
It was previously assumed that computer animation studio Illumination would be working on an animated movie based on The Legend of Zelda. However, the company CEO Chris Meledandri shut down the rumor during an interview, stating that no animated movies based on the series were in the works at the time.
