Toy Leak Suggests R.O.B. Cameo in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie

R.O.B. may be heading to the big screen in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, according to a recent toy leak that surfaced online. The claim originated from Juan Pablo on X. The character is said to appear in a playset modeled after Gateway Galaxy, suggesting at least a brief cameo in the upcoming animated feature.

The reported inclusion comes as anticipation builds around the film, which was formally spotlighted during a dedicated Nintendo Direct on January 25, 2026. After a series of teasers, it was confirmed that the movie is scheduled to release in the United States on April 1, 2026, with Japan following on April 24. The project shifts the setting beyond the familiar Mushroom Kingdom and into outer space, drawing heavily from the gravity-based mechanics that defined the 2007 Wii title Super Mario Galaxy.

Production is reportedly nearing completion. As of early 2026, animation work has already been finalized, placing the film in its final stages ahead of release. Returning cast members include Chris Pratt and Anya Taylor-Joy, while additional high-profile talent is set to join the sequel. The creative direction appears focused on delivering a broader, more interstellar scale, with strong emphasis on the lore surrounding the Comet Observatory.

The movie takes primary inspiration from Super Mario Galaxy and its sequel, though marketing materials indicate references to other entries in the franchise. These include Super Mario Odyssey, as well as nods to Super Mario Sunshine and Super Mario World. With Shigeru Miyamoto and Chris Meledandri once again serving as producers, the film aims to further expand what has been described as a growing Nintendo Cinematic Universe. If the toy leak proves accurate, R.O.B. could be one of several legacy elements woven into the cosmic adventure.
