Two Rayman Projects Are Reportedly In Development, Including A Rayman Legends Remake

Two new Rayman titles are currently in development, one of which is a Rayman Legends remake, according to a new rumor.

During the latest episode of the Insider Gaming podcast, known insider and co-host Tom Hendersont offered clarification on ongoing speculation surrounding previously reported codemanes for Rayman-related Ubisoft projects, one of which is a remake of Rayman Legends. According to him, one of the titles, Project Steambot, is a remake of Rayman Legends, the critically acclaimed 2013 platformer developed by Ubisoft Montpellier.

While Ubisoft has not officially confirmed the project, Henderson stated that he believes the remake is real and actively in production, supporting earlier reports that Rayman is still part of Ubisoft’s long-term plans despite years of silence from the publisher.

Henderson also revealed the existence of a second Rayman project, internally referred to as “Iceman,” which is allegedly set for release before the Rayman Legends remake, sometime “very, very soon.” He noted that the timing coincides with the upcoming anniversary for the Rayman franchise, indicating that the project is designed as a commemorative release. No specifics regarding whether the game will feature 3D or 2.5D gameplay were shared.

The insider’s statement suggests that neither of Project Steambot and Iceman are in danger of cancellation. Publisher Ubisoft’s stock price fell to its lowest level in nearly 15 years, dropping by 39 percent in a single morning session and are down roughly 95 percent over the past five years. The decline followed an internal reorganization that included the cancellation of six games, delays to multiple projects, and structural changes across the company.

Ubisoft’s challenges come after several years marked by internal turbulence and uneven commercial performance. While back-catalog titles have continued to generate revenue, recent releases have reportedly performed below expectations. In response, the company has initiated what it describes as a process of right-sizing, which has included the closure of legacy studios in Stockholm and Halifax, along with policy changes such as a return to five day in office work weeks.
