Rayman is turning 30, and Ubisoft has marked the occasion by reviving the franchise’s official social media presence and teasing plans for its future. The publisher shared a celebratory message during the fan event Rayman Alive, offering both a nostalgic look back and a subtle glimpse of what lies ahead.
In a special video, Loic from Ubisoft Montpellier reflected on the character’s legacy and development journey. He noted that Rayman was created at the Montpellier studio in 1995 and has since been shaped by contributions from multiple Ubisoft teams, including Paris, Milan, and Nancy. Over the decades, the series has spawned dozens of titles, ranging from the original platforming adventures to experimental spin-offs.
“Starting now and across our community channels, we are taking a moment to celebrate this incredible history by looking back,” Loic explained. “We will be sharing behind the scenes, anecdotes, developer interviews, concept art and more throughout the months to come.” He further reassured fans that the franchise is being carefully handled, adding, “As we said in the past, a very talented team at Ubisoft Montpellier and Ubisoft Milan are currently working together on the future of Rayman. Don’t expect news from us too soon, but rest assured, Rayman is in good hands.”
The presentation also featured composer Christophe Heral, best known for his work on Rayman Origins and Rayman Legends. In his appearance, Heral expressed gratitude to the fan community, saying he was touched by the many messages of support for his music over the years. He concluded the event with a brief musical performance highlighting the celebratory atmosphere.
Rayman’s return to the spotlight through active community channels is likely to raise expectations for new projects, though Ubisoft has cautioned that major updates will not arrive immediately. For now, fans can expect anniversary content such as developer interviews, concept art, and retrospective features.
The Rayman franchise, created by Michel Ancel, has remained one of Ubisoft’s most distinctive series, recognized for its inventive worlds and the limbless hero at its center. Since the original game launched in 1995, the series has expanded into a dozen titles across multiple platforms, combining whimsical design with challenging platforming mechanics. With Ubisoft now hinting at new developments, the 30th anniversary could mark the start of a new era for Rayman.
