Sony has not officially announced the PS5 Pro yet, but several leaks have already revealed details about this upcoming console, including its specifications and design.
The latest leak comes directly from Sony, which confirmed that it will be hosting a technical presentation about the PS5 on September 10. While the official website did not mention any new hardware, it did provide a link to the live stream scheduled for tomorrow.
It appears that Sony accidentally revealed the PS5 Pro earlier than planned. The video linked in the article was titled “PS5 Pro,” though it had no description, essentially confirming the console’s existence and supporting previous rumors that it would be revealed in early September.
According to Sony’s official blog post, the presentation will be brief, lasting only nine minutes, and will focus on innovations in gaming technology related to the PS5. Mark Cerny, the lead architect of the PS5, who also worked on the PS4, will be leading the presentation.
A lot is already known about the PS5 Pro, including its hardware specifications. While Sony has made significant improvements to the GPU’s processing power, they have not made similar upgrades to the CPU, likely to maintain backward compatibility, as was the case with the PS4 to PS4 Pro transition. As a result, while the GPU upgrade is substantial, the CPU improvement is minimal, meaning fans should not expect a dramatic increase in graphical capabilities.
One of the key selling points of the PS5 Pro is rumored to be a new upscaling technology developed by Sony in collaboration with AMD. This feature could allow games to be rendered at higher resolutions than the base PS5 while also offering performance enhancements.
There is no rumored price point for this new console, but going by its predecessor, it can be expected to be slightly higher than the base PS5/PS5 Slim, which currently retails for $499.99. Given this price, the PS5 Pro can potentially launch for $599.99.
