by Ali Haider

Following the recent Until Dawn update 1.06, which introduced various enhancements and fixes across PC and console platforms, the new update 1.07 is now live on PS5, with additional adjustments and optimizations planned for upcoming patches. While official patch notes for 1.07 have yet to be released, a list of known issues and in-progress fixes highlights areas the developers are currently focusing on. This update aims to enhance both gameplay performance and visual fidelity, addressing outstanding problems that affected prior versions.

With patch 1.06 already delivering notable features such as Performance and Fidelity Modes for PS5, support for monitor switching on PC, and a range of bug fixes, update 1.07 builds on this foundation, concentrating on resolving several unresolved issues. These include stuttering in specific chapters, key rendering issues, and trophy-related bugs. Below, we detail the known issues that are slated for fixes in the upcoming patches, as well as a recap of the improvements made in the prior 1.06 update.

Known Issues (Until Dawn 1.07 Update Focus)

The developers have acknowledged the following issues, with fixes actively being worked on:

  • FSR Frame Generation Disabled for Nvidia 40-Series Cards: Due to severe performance issues, FSR Frame Generation has been temporarily disabled on Nvidia 40-series graphics cards. A fix is expected in the next update.
  • Virtual Shadow Maps Bug: Currently, Virtual Shadow Maps are functional only in menus and have been disabled elsewhere in the game due to bugs.
  • Shader Compilation Change: The initial “Preparing Shaders” loading screen will be replaced by a background operation in the main menu to improve load times.
  • Stuttering in Chapter 9 Sanatorium: Some players experience stuttering while playing as Mike in the Sanatorium section of Chapter 9.
  • Global Stats Display Issue: The “Show Global Stats” setting is not functioning correctly.
  • Anti-Aliasing Toggle Issue: TAA can be toggled on even when DLSS or FSR is in use, leading to compatibility concerns.
  • PC Control Remapping Issue: Remapping the “Don’t Move” control on PC does not function as intended.
  • Trophy Unlocking Issue: The “It’s Shining” trophy/achievement fails to unlock unless all collectibles are gathered within a single playthrough.
  • Rendering Problems on DX11: Running the game on DirectX 11 may lead to rendering issues, as Until Dawn requires DirectX 12 as a minimum for proper graphics performance.

Detailed patch notes for Until Dawn update 1.07 will be added once the developers share them.
