A new rumor suggests that Warhorse Studios, the developer behind Kingdom Come: Deliverance, could be working on a large-scale Lord of the Rings project currently in development under Embracer Group.
The speculation originates from a ResetEra user, who referenced earlier reporting about a $100 million investment from the UAE into a new open-world Lord of the Rings game. According to the post, the project is being developed by an Embracer-owned studio under the codename “Revenge Studios.”
Further claims point to industry veteran Ryszard Chojnowski, who reportedly shared on a podcast that he had heard from credible sources that Warhorse Studios is the team behind the game. As quoted in the discussion, he said he “heard it a couple months ago already and didn’t believe it, but there have been more whispers about it recently.”
While the information remains unverified, the project itself has been the subject of multiple reports in recent months. The game is said to be a third-person open-world action RPG with a budget of around $100 million, partially funded by the Abu Dhabi Investment Office. It is also expected to involve developers with experience on the Kingdom Come: Deliverance series.
If accurate, the title would represent one of the most ambitious video game adaptations of Tolkien’s work to date, with a focus on delivering a large-scale interpretation of Middle-earth. However, neither Embracer Group nor Warhorse Studios has confirmed any involvement, leaving the details firmly in the realm of rumor for now.
