Where Winds Meet Comparison Highlights PS5 Pro Advantages and PC Performance Lead

by Salal Awan

A new graphics comparison for Where Winds Meet outlines the technical differences across PlayStation 5, PlayStation 5 Pro, and PC, revealing clear strengths on each platform while confirming that the PC version remains the most capable in terms of raw performance.

On PlayStation 5, the game offers a single graphics mode, providing a unified configuration for resolution, effects, and frame rate. The PS5 Pro expands on this by offering two modes, one of which enables ray tracing for certain reflection elements. The implementation is limited but adds a layer of visual depth to reflective surfaces. In contrast, the PC version currently does not allow ray tracing to be enabled, a constraint that leaves the console edition with a minor exclusive advantage in this specific area. Even so, the Pro model’s improvements are not enough to guarantee a steady frame rate, and neither PS5 platform is able to maintain a consistent 60 FPS during gameplay.

Rendering resolution is another dividing point between the platforms. The PS5 Pro delivers a higher resolution than the standard PS5, resulting in crisper image quality and a modest improvement in overall clarity. However, this gain comes with the same instability in frame pacing, which appears across both console versions during dense combat and traversal scenes. The limitations suggest the game’s open world, heavy animations, and detailed environments push current console hardware to its limits.

Performance on PC stands in sharp contrast, especially at Ultra or High settings. The game runs efficiently on mid to high-end hardware, and owners of an RTX 50 series GPU can exceed 200 FPS without difficulty when using Multi Frame Generation. This level of responsiveness significantly enhances the combat and traversal systems that define Where Winds Meet, especially in its cooperative and PvP modes. The developers have also confirmed that PC will soon gain a Natural mode, designed to push visual fidelity even further once implemented.

Where Winds Meet is a free-to-play open-world action RPG allowing players to embody a young sword master exploring tenth-century China. Its combination of martial arts combat, acrobatic traversal, and extensive narrative content has positioned the game as one of the more ambitious Wuxia-inspired releases in recent years.
