505 Games and Leenzee’s Soulslike action role-playing game, Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, has reached over 114,000 concurrent players on Steam.
According to the Steam player stats (via SteamDB), Wuchang: Fallen Feathers has reached an all-time peak of 114,132 concurrent players on the digital distribution platform a mere 6 hours after launch, the highest for a Soulslike game that isn’t developed by FromSoftware. This is despite the game receiving “overwhelmingly negative” reviews, as of writing.
When compared to other Soulslike games, Wuchang: Fallen Feathers has performed quite well on Steam, leading the way with a peak player count of 114,132. It is followed by Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty at #2, with an all-time player count of 75,906. At #3 is Lords of the Fallen, with a peak player count of 43,075, which is followed by The First Berserker: Khazan with 32,929 all-time concurrent players at #4. At #5 comes Lies of P, with 30,095 peak concurrent players.
As for the “overwhelmingly negative” reviews on Steam, players have largely criticized Wuchang: Fallen Feathers for its performance issues. One player mentioned that despite their PC exceeding the recommended system specs, they were unable to get the game running at playable frame rate. They pointed out that the latency was unacceptable for a title of this nature where timing and fast reactions are key. Others blamed Wuchang: Fallen Feathers’s game engine, Unreal Engine 5, as the culprit, as games developed in it are generally known for having hitches and other performance issues.
Wuchang: Fallen Feathers was released for PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S on July 23, 2025. Players assume the role of Bai Wuchang, a female pirate who’s journey takes her through the war-torn and plague-stricken lands of Shu during the late Ming dynasty. She has access to five distinct weapon categories: longswords, one-handed swords, dual blades, axes, and spears. Her initial weapon is Cloudfrost’s Edge, a longsword inspired by the traditional Chinese changdao. Each weapon type allows for light and heavy attacks, along with weapon-specific abilities and discipline-based skills.
