505 Games and Leenzee’s Soulslike action role-playing game, Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, is now available for PS5, PS5 Pro, and Xbox Series X|S, and if you’re on the fence about which version to pick up, read ahead.
In terms of graphical settings, the PS5, PS5 Pro, and Xbox Series X|S versions of Wuchang: Fallen Feathers offer 3 display modes, namely Quality, Balanced, and Performance. PS5, PS5 Pro, and Xbox Series X exhibit no notable differences in graphical settings across all configurations. Performance mode decreases the quality of shadows, some textures, and draw distance on all 3 consoles. Meanwhile, the Xbox Series S version exhibits significant cutbacks in terms of lighting, shadows, textures, and draw distance compared to the other 3 platforms.
In terms of image quality, Wuchang: Fallen Feathers runs at a dynamic resolution across all current-generation consoles, with results varying based on the selected graphics mode and platform. On both PS5 and Xbox Series X, the game targets a maximum resolution of 1800p through upscaling. In Quality Mode, the resolution commonly hovers around 900p, while Balanced Mode sees this fluctuate between 900p and 720p. Performance Mode further drops resolution, typically rendering between 720p and 600p.
The PS5 Pro version also runs at dynamic 1800 in all 3 graphics modes, commonly running at the same resolutions as the base console in Quality and Balanced modes. However, Performance Mode offers an improvement over that of the PS5, with common internal resolutions ranging from 1062p to 600p. Meanwhile, on Xbox Series S, Wuchang: Fallen Feathers exhibits the lowest rendering resolutions seen so far on the console. In Quality Mode, the game is upscaled to 900p, but internally renders around 300p, resulting in visibly soft image quality. Balanced Mode bumps the internal resolution slightly to 360p, which is then upscaled to 900p. Performance Mode fares, with internal rendering resolutions between 504p and 360p, which is upscaled to 1260p.
Overall, while the PS5 Pro version of Wuchang: Fallen Feathers delivers the best possible console experience, it comes with little to no graphical improvements over the base console.
