Kuro Games has detailed the Version 3.0 update for Wuthering Waves, confirming the game’s largest post-launch expansion to date will arrive on December 25, 2025. The update not only introduces a major new story arc but also arrives as the studio celebrates multiple high-profile awards from organizations including The Game Awards, PlayStation, Google Play, and the Hollywood Music In Media Awards.
Version 3.0 begins Chapter III of Wuthering Waves’ ongoing episodic narrative, opening a new science fiction-focused storyline that blends mechanical futurism with space-themed romance. The chapter launches with two acts, What Burns Beneath Frostlands and Ode to the Second Sunrise, and sends players to an entirely new region while expanding the game’s cast and combat systems.
The new setting, Lahai Roi, is introduced as a vast underground world hidden beneath the Roya Frostlands. Once isolated due to a dramatic polar shift that altered the planet’s climate, Lahai Roi evolved into a warm and humid refuge where extinct prehistoric life forms developed into a distinct ecosystem. This region becomes the central stage for the next chapter, offering a new map structure and exploration style compared to previous zones.
Two new Resonators, Lynae and Mornye, join the roster alongside a wide range of gameplay additions. Version 3.0 introduces new weapons, including the Spectrum Blaster, Starfield Calibrator, and the Synth Armament Series, as well as new Echoes, Phantom Echoes, and Sonata Effects that expand build variety and combat strategies. A new utility, the Expedition Motorbike, adds further mobility while exploring Lahai Roi.
High-level players will find new challenges in the Doubled Pawns Matrix Pilot, a recurring high difficulty mode, alongside new permanent and tactical content such as Operation Frontier Renewal and Tactical Hologram Dreamless. The update also adds a long list of limited-time and themed events, including area exploration activities, Echo combat challenges, racing events, photo collection tasks, and a seven-day login campaign.
One of the standout announcements tied to Version 3.0 is a collaboration with SEGA, bringing Persona and Sonic-themed content into the game. Kuro Games has confirmed these crossover events will launch as part of the update, alongside several other seasonal and web-based activities.
To mark the launch of Chapter III, players who log in will receive rewards including 10 Radiant Tide and 10 Crystal Solvent via in-game mail. Additional Astrite sorting challenges are tied to Startorch Academy, a key location introduced in the new storyline.
Kuro Games also used the update announcement to highlight Wuthering Waves’ recent industry recognition. The game has received the Players’ Voice Award at The Game Awards 2025, PlayStation Partner Award and Users’ Choice Award, Google Play Best Ongoing Award, and an HMMA award for music in a console and PC video game. As a thank you to the community, players have been gifted 1600 Astrite through in-game mail.
Wuthering Waves Version 3.0, titled We Who See The Stars, launches December 25, 2025, across all supported platforms. The free-to-play action RPG is available on PC, PlayStation 5, Mac, iOS, and Android, with cross-platform support and continued episodic updates planned beyond this release.
