WWE 2K22 is releasing after two years and it is a massive upgrade by all accounts, but it is still not perfect and has some minor flaws.
The game is available now for the last and current-generation consoles. If you are interested in seeing a comparison between the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series versions, check out this article. You can also take a look at the complete WWE 2K22 trophy/achievement guide.
In terms of the general difference and aside from the gameplay changes, the character models have received a facelift thanks in part to an upgrade to the game’s engine. It has allowed rendering slightly more realistic-looking character models, but not all of them benefit from it.
The Rock is perhaps one of the best examples of this upgrade as his appearance in WWE 2K20 was just downright embarrassing. He looks like a real person now and resembles his personality. Some other characters might have received an upgrade, but they are still not perfect. Kane, for example, has better defined visual features but his hair is still terrible. While the character models have been upgraded, the hair rendering is still a mixed bag.
WWE 2K22 does appear to offer a lot more with multiple gameplay modes including career and GM mode. The game is packed with a lot of content and while it might not reach the peak of its golden era, this one is a good substitute for those who are looking into picking a wrestling game.
WWE 2K22 is available now for the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, and PC.
