Xbox console users are now starting to see their game library appear on the Xbox PC store, according to a new report.
Xbox users are reporting that their entire console library has appeared on the PC Xbox store all of a sudden. Upon inspecting some of our own Xbox user accounts, we can confirm that this is indeed the case. Microsoft is likely looking to make a major announcement in this regard at the upcoming Xbox Games Showcase later today, and the back-end work has apparently been done in advance.

Despite appearing in the library section of the PC store, Xbox console titles are currently not available to download and install. However, achievements earned from these games do appear on the PC app.
What Does Xbox Console Game Library On PC Mean For Users?
It’s hard to say for sure, but this move appears to be part of Microsoft’s plan to unify the Xbox console and PC ecosystems by widening the Play Anywhere initiative to include every title. As for whether the software giant is using emulation to achieve this is not yet confirmed, though a recent job listing for the position of Principal Software Engineer at Microsoft seems to point in that direction.
According to the stated job overview, the selected candidate would help build the next evolution in Xbox compatibility and game preservation through scalable emulation solutions. The technology is said to be a critical part of enabling the Xbox goal of allowing players to experience their games on any device. Further in the list of responsibilities, it is mentioned that the new recruit will design and build solutions that enable system level emulation across the catalog of Xbox content, suggesting that the technology aims to allow Xbox users to carry forward their library to Windows-based platforms, as we’re seeing now.
