Xbox Newsletter Indicates Game Pass Price Hike Doesn’t Affect Existing Subscribers, At Least In Some Regions

An Xbox newsletter that was recently sent out to users in some region indicates that the recent Game Pass price hike doesn’t affect existing subscribers.

According to an Xbox newsletter received by Reddit user Hydraulik2K12, the new Game Pass price hike may not affect all subscribers equally. They explained that, despite Microsoft announcing an upcoming global price increase for Xbox Game Pass, their subscription in Poland remains unaffected.

The Reddit user currently pays 62.99 PLN (around 17.33 US Dollars) for Game Pass Ultimate, including a 23% tax. According to them, the same thing happened during last year’s price hike i.e. their rate remained the same as long as the subscription continued to renew automatically. For reference, new customers in Poland are now expected to pay 114.99 PLN (approximately 31.66 US Dollars) for the same plan.

The Xbox newsletter reassured existing subscribers that the recent price increases “will only apply to new purchases” and “will not affect your current subscription in your region,” provided the user keeps their recurring billing active. However, if a subscriber cancels their plan and later re-subscribes, the new, higher price will apply. The email also noted that any future changes to existing subscriptions will be communicated at least 60 days in advance. An email with similar wording was received by subscribers in Germany and Korea.

According to content creator Colteastwood, all EU customers are protected from the Game Pass price hike if they are existing customers with auto-renew on. However, in contrast, another version of the email sent out in France to TheWacoKid stated that, starting from November 4, 2025, the monthly price for Xbox Game Pass will increase from 17.99 Euros to 26.99 Euros, excluding taxes. An individual in Spain also received the same information in their version of the email.

Microsoft recently announced a price hike for Xbox Game Pass alongside changes to the naming convention of its subscription tiers. The new tiers are called Essential, Premium, and Ultimate. More details here.
