Microsoft has removed the $1 Xbox Game Pass trial offer prior to the release of the upcoming entry in Activision’s Call of Duty series, Black Ops 6.
The aforementioned introductory Xbox Game Pass trial granted new users 14 days to try out the catalog of titles available on Microsoft’s premium game subscription service. However, that will no longer be the case, as Microsoft has quietly pulled the offer from the official Xbox Game Pass website. This has happened a little over a week before the day one arrival of arguably one of the biggest and most influential franchises in gaming today.
Activision’s upcoming first-person shooter is set to be added to the Xbox Game Pass catalog for Game Pass Ultimate subscribers as well as PC Game Pass subscribers at launch on October 25, 2024. The likely concern here is that users may create new Xbox accounts in order to exploit the offer and complete the Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 campaign and try out the multiplayer modes during the 14-day Xbox Game Pass trial period. That said, this will certainly come as a disappointment for those who have yet to try out the subscription service and are genuinely looking to avail the 14-day trial offer before moving to a payment plan.
It’s unclear how long Microsoft plans to make the Xbox Game Pass trial offer unavailable. A similar situation had happened prior to the release of Bethesda Game Studios’ action role-playing game, Starfield. It’s clear that the company doesn’t wish to offer any kind of leniency during the launch period of its blockbuster AAA releases.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will be the seventh entry in the Black Ops sub-series, following 2020’s Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. Set in 1991, the single-player campaign follows rogue operatives Troy Marshall and Frank Woods as they recruit a team to take down Pantheon, a covert group that has infiltrated the CIA and labeled dissenters as traitors to the United States.
