Yakuza Kiwami 3 and Dark Ties Demo Launches January 21

by Greg Martin

SEGA has announced that players will soon be able to try an early slice of Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio’s next release, Yakuza Kiwami 3 and Dark Ties, through a free demo arriving on January 21, 2026. The demo will be available first on Steam at 7 a.m. PT, with console versions following later the same day at 9 p.m. PT for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2.

The demo provides access to both titles included in the two-in-one release, giving players a chance to sample the action-adventure beat ’em up experience ahead of the full launch. Each game offers its own setting, protagonist focus, and combat approach, allowing players to get a feel for the broader scope of the package.

In Yakuza Kiwami 3, players step into the role of Kazuma Kiryu and explore Ryukyu in Okinawa. Combat emphasizes flexibility, letting players switch on the fly between the Dragon of Dojima Kiwami style and weapon-focused Ryukyu techniques. Beyond the main action, the demo also highlights a range of side activities, including karaoke, narrative-driven sub-stories, outfit customization, and other familiar series staples designed to flesh out the world.

Dark Ties, meanwhile, offers a look at a new storyline centered on Yoshitaka Mine. Set in Kamurocho, this portion of the demo allows players to explore the city while engaging with various side experiences. Combat here leans into Mine’s shoot boxing style, emphasizing fast-paced and stylish encounters against enemy groups.

Yakuza Kiwami 3 and Dark Ties is scheduled to launch on February 12, 2026, for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam. Players interested in the full release can pre-order the game now and follow official channels for future updates.
