Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio has released new information regarding Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties, the upcoming dual release scheduled for February 12, 2026. The game will be available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2, with both a standard and deluxe edition confirmed. The collection includes a full remake of Yakuza 3 alongside Dark Ties, a new prequel narrative focusing on antagonist Yoshitaka Mine.
According to details shared by SEGA and RGG Studio, Yakuza Kiwami 3 modernizes the 2009 title through updated visuals, expanded combat systems, and new activities. The remake revisits Kazuma Kiryu’s life following the events of the Omi Alliance conflict, as he retires to Okinawa to manage the Morning Glory orphanage. His attempt at a peaceful life is interrupted by political schemes and yakuza disputes threatening the children under his care.
Combat in Kiwami 3 introduces two distinct fighting styles. The Dragon of Dojima Style returns with the most extensive move set in the series, including new Heat Abilities and a Dragon Boost state that amplifies Kiryu’s attacks. The new Ryukyu Style draws inspiration from traditional Okinawan martial arts, incorporating weapons such as the sai, nunchaku, and tonfa. Players can combine techniques and activate enhanced finishers through the game’s revamped progression system.
In contrast, Dark Ties provides a character study of Yoshitaka Mine, chronicling his descent into the criminal world after a betrayal by business partners. Set in Kamurocho in 2007, the narrative follows Mine’s alliance with Tojo Clan members Tsuyoshi Kanda and Daigo Dojima. The game introduces the Shoot Boxing combat style, emphasizing agility, precision, and aerial attacks. Mine can also activate “Dark Awakening,” a temporary transformation that heightens his strength and alters his fighting techniques.
Both titles feature a range of minigames and side activities, continuing the franchise’s tradition of blending crime drama with eccentric diversions. In Kiwami 3, players can participate in activities at the Morning Glory orphanage and engage in team-based street battles, while Dark Ties includes an underground fight club and a campaign system tied to character relationships.
The upcoming release will include multilingual support with voiceovers in Japanese and English, and subtitles across multiple European and Asian languages. A digital upgrade path is available for PlayStation 4 owners upgrading to PlayStation 5, while the Nintendo Switch 2 version will require an internet connection for an initial download.
Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties is being developed and published by SEGA and Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio. Pre-orders are now open via official regional storefronts.
