Warner Bros. has confirmed that Weapons, the latest horror film from director Zach Cregger, will be available on video-on-demand beginning September 9. The film arrives on digital platforms just one month after its theatrical debut, following a remarkably strong box office performance.

Since its release on August 8, 2025, Weapons has earned an impressive $239.1 million worldwide against a modest $38 million production budget. Domestically, the film collected $136.4 million across the United States and Canada, while international markets contributed $102.7 million. The movie managed to reclaim the top box office position during its fourth weekend, benefiting from the Labor Day holiday surge.

The story of Weapons centers on the mysterious disappearance of seventeen children from a single classroom in the small town of Maybrook. At precisely 2:17 a.m., the students leave their homes in unison, arms stretched like airplanes, with only one boy, Alex, remaining behind. As the community grapples with the shock, their teacher Justine Gandy, portrayed by Julia Garner, faces intense scrutiny while Archer Graff, played by Josh Brolin, takes matters into his own hands. What begins as a crime investigation gradually unfolds into a chilling supernatural tale involving Alexs aunt, a dying witch named Gladys.

The ensemble cast includes Julia Garner, Josh Brolin, Alden Ehrenreich, Austin Abrams, Cary Christopher, Benedict Wong, Amy Madigan, and Toby Huss. Directed, written, produced, and co-scored by Cregger, the film uses a chapter-based structure to reveal its layered mystery from multiple perspectives.

Following the acclaim of Cregger’s previous film Barbarian, expectations for Weapons were high. The film has largely lived up to them, drawing praise for its unsettling narrative and powerful performances. With its upcoming VOD release, audiences who missed its theatrical run will soon be able to experience what has been described as one of the most distinctive horror films of the year.
