Zootopia 2 Surges Past $1.59 Billion at Global Box Office

Zootopia 2 continues its extraordinary box office performance, closing in on the $1.6 billion global milestone just over a month after its theatrical debut. As of early January 2026, the animated sequel has reached an estimated worldwide total of $1.59 billion, placing it among the highest-grossing films of all time and surpassing several major blockbuster benchmarks.

International markets have played a decisive role in the film’s rise. During its sixth weekend overseas, Zootopia 2 added approximately $62.7 million across 53 markets, representing a remarkably small decline of just 7.8 percent from the previous weekend. This pushed its international total to roughly $1.23 billion, reinforcing the film’s sustained momentum well beyond the typical holiday surge.

Domestically, the film has shown similar resilience. In the United States, Zootopia 2 recorded a strong sixth wide weekend, earning $19 million despite losing a significant number of theaters at the start of the weekend. The drop from the prior frame was minimal at 4.5 percent, placing the film among the top ten largest sixth weekend three-day grosses in box office history. Its cumulative domestic total now stands at approximately $363.7 million.

With its current trajectory, Zootopia 2 has already surpassed the global totals of Top Gun Maverick, Furious 7, and The Avengers, moving into the 12th position on the all-time worldwide box office chart. Projections suggest the film will cross $1.6 billion imminently, with $1.65 billion expected shortly thereafter. At that level, it would overtake both The Lion King and Jurassic World to enter the global top ten.

Released on November 26, 2025, Zootopia 2 marks the return of Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde in a new investigation set within previously unexplored districts of the city. Directed by Byron Howard and Jared Bush, the sequel has combined broad family appeal with sustained repeat viewership.
