Zootopia 2 Surges Past Demon Slayer Infinity Castle and Jurassic World Rebirth Globally

Zootopia 2 has surged past several major 2025 titles, including Demon Slayer Infinity Castle and Jurassic World Rebirth, after clearing more than $900 million worldwide in just 12 days. The sequel has performed exceptionally well both at home and abroad, securing its place as one of the year’s strongest box office contenders. Its worldwide total now stands at $915.77 million, supported by $220.47 million from domestic theaters and another $695.3 million from international markets across 53 territories.

Japan contributed significantly to this momentum with a standout opening. Zootopia 2 launched with $14.1 million over its first three days, boosted by a $6 million Sunday that climbed nearly 15 percent from Saturday. The film topped Avengers Endgame’s local currency debut and surpassed The Super Mario Bros Movie to claim the biggest opening ever for a Hollywood animated release in yen. Audience reactions remained steady, with a 4.3 rating that is considered unusually consistent for an imported animated film in Japan.

The film’s run in China has been even more striking. By its second Sunday, Zootopia 2 became only the second Hollywood film to exceed $400 million in a single overseas market, hitting $431 million in 12 days. It pulled in $116 million during its second weekend, the largest second weekend ever recorded for a Hollywood animated title in any market. With a weekend drop of only 46.7 percent, the film is holding remarkably well and appears poised to surpass the $632.1 million finish of Avengers Endgame to become the top-grossing Hollywood film in China. Walk up demand stayed high, with 70 percent of second Sunday ticket sales purchased on the day.

In the United States, the film has reached several important milestones as well. Its second weekend brought in $43 million, marking the second biggest post-Thanksgiving sophomore weekend on record. It has already outperformed several 2025 films, including F1, Thunderbolts, The Final Reckoning, and Captain America Brave New World. The domestic total now sits at $220.5 million.

Worldwide, Zootopia 2 delivered a strong $219 million second weekend internationally, a 45.5 percent decline from its debut but still ahead of Inside Out 2’s overseas performance during the same period. This international turnout enabled the film to surpass the full runs of Demon Slayer Infinity Castle and Jurassic World Rebirth in less than two weeks. Its leading international markets include China at $431 million, France at $27.3 million, Korea at $25.6 million, Mexico at $18.6 million, Germany at $16.2 million, and Japan with its notable $14.1 million start.

The sequel follows Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde as they confront a reemerging reptile community and uncover long buried parts of Zootopia’s history. Released on November 26, 2025, the film continues to show strong momentum and is expected to cross the $1 billion mark by next week.
