Zootopia 2 has officially crossed the one billion dollar mark at the worldwide box office, hitting this incredible milestone in just 19 days and breaking several records along the way. The animated sequel also passed 500 million dollars in China alone, making it only the second Hollywood movie ever to reach that number in a single market outside the US. This achievement firmly places the film among the biggest animated hits of all time.
In China, Zootopia 2 posted a strong third weekend, bringing in $55.4 million and securing the second-biggest third three-day weekend for a Hollywood animated movie in any single market. This weekend’s total represents a 52.2 percent drop from the week before. On its third Sunday, the film made $19 million across more than 283,000 screenings, pushing its total earnings in the country to $503.8 million. The movie is now less than $130 million shy of beating Avengers Endgame’s entire China run of $632.1 million.
Back in the United States, Zootopia 2 surpassed $250 million and is currently on track to pass How to Train Your Dragon to become the eighth highest-grossing film of 2025 domestically. It earned $26.3 million during its second post-Thanksgiving weekend—the second largest ever—with a drop of 38.5 percent. The total domestic earnings now sit at $259 million, and projections suggest a final North American total between $370 and $400 million.
Internationally, the sequel had a huge third weekend overseas, pulling in $131.1 million, a decline of just 40.1 percent. The total international revenue has now reached $877.7 million across 53 markets. When combined with its domestic take, Zootopia 2 has an approximate global total of $1.14 billion. This impressive performance moves it to number eight on the all-time list of highest-grossing animated films, pushing past Moana 2, Toy Story 3, and Toy Story 4, with Minions next in its sights. Its top international markets include China with $502.4 million, followed by France at $36.4 million, Korea at $35 million, Japan at $27.7 million, and Mexico at $24.9 million. Other major markets are Germany, the United Kingdom, Taiwan, Italy, Brazil, Australia, and Spain.
Zootopia 2 features Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde as full partners in the Zootopia Police Department, with the story focusing on a new investigation involving a mysterious reptile villain named Gary De’Snake. Walt Disney Animation Studios released the film worldwide on November 26, 2025, and it is expected to land on Disney Plus in early 2026. Given its current pace, Zootopia 2 is now looking at a global finish somewhere between $1.5 and $1.7 billion, which is an amazing result by any standard.
