Leaked Early Prototype Footage Reveals Development Stages Of Several Assassin’s Creed Games

Prototype footage from several of Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed titles has leaked, revealing early stages of their development.

Back in 2014, Jason Schreier had reported about a title called Assassin’s Creed Victory, which would take place in London during the 19th century. The information was accompanied by screenshots from a seven minute “target gameplay footage” video. The game later went on to be called Assassin’s Creed Syndicate. The aforementioned target gameplay from the game has now been leaked, along with early prototype footage from other Assassin’s Creed titles, namely Assassin’s Creed III, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, and Assassin’s Creed Origins.

The first gameplay footage show’s Assassin’s Creed 3’s protagonist, Connor, roaming about a ship among placeholder NPC character models. The second footage show pre-alpha gameplay from Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, with protagonist Edward Kenway stealthily taking out all the NPC in the area. The two videos from Assassin’s Creed Syndicate give an early look at the game’s skill menu as well as early gameplay footage showing protagonist Jacob traveling around the city on a carriage.

The early alpha footage from Assassin’s Creed Origins is the most elaborate, initially showing protagonist Bayek scanning an island before performing a leap of faith. Furthermore, there is some gameplay featuring his companion eagle, Senu. Later sections of the footage highlights systemic crowd simulation in the game world, a dynamic patrol system for NPCs, various gameplay scenarios, including emergent opportunities. Additionally, ranged and melee-based combat, weapon classes, the last man standing mechanic, and the game’s hitbox system are demonstrated.

Speaking of Assassin’s Creed related leaks, a possible cut teaser for Assassin’s Creed Infinity was discovered by YouTuber Sliderv2 hidden among the Assassin’s Creed Mirage game files. It contained a secret post credits modern day cutscene featuring a conversation between two Animus operators. Read about it here.
