A New Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater Game May Be On The Horizon

A brand new entry in Activision’s skateboarding game series, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater, may be revealed in the near future.

The official Twitter/X account for Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater has been updated with a new banner on the series’ 25th anniversary.  The banner contains an ESRB rating logo alongside a mention of Activision Publishing for a 2024 title, suggesting that a brand new entry in the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater game series may currently be in development.

It remains to be seen whether this title is a remaster of an existing title in the series or a completely new game designed for current-gen consoles and PC from the ground up. The announcement is likely to happen either on or close to September 29, 2024, as the original Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater was released 25 years ago in 1999.

The first remake compilation in the series, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2, was developed by Vicarious Visions and published by Activision. It was released on September 4, 2020, for PlayStation 4, Windows, and Xbox One; on March 26, 2021, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S; and on June 25, 2021, for Nintendo Switch. It contains remakes of the first two titles in the Tony Hawk series, namely Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater and Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 2, which were originally developed by Neversoft.

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2 is the first major entry in the series since Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5 in 2015 and was the last project by Vicarious Visions as an Activision subsidiary before its merger into Blizzard Entertainment on January 22, 2021. The game is played from a third-person perspective with a focus on classic arcade-style gameplay. The main objective in most modes is to achieve high scores or collect specific items. Players must complete tasks to unlock new levels and progress through the game. Points are earned by successfully performing and chaining together tricks such as aerials, flips, grinds, lips, and manuals.
