Sega and RGG Studio Announce Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii for February 2025 Release

Sega of America and Ryu Ga Gotoku (RGG) Studio have formally announced the latest installment in the acclaimed Like a Dragon series: Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii. This new release is scheduled for a global launch on Friday, February 28, 2025, and will be accessible on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Windows, and PC via Steam. As of today, players have the opportunity to pre-order the game on all platforms, with a range of editions available.

Revealed during the recent RGG Summit livestream, Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii takes the beloved character Goro Majima on a new, action-packed journey across both land and sea. Set one year after the events of Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, Majima finds himself stranded on a deserted island, with no recollection of his identity. Accompanied by a young boy named Noah, who rescues him, Majima embarks on a quest across the ocean to reclaim his lost identity. However, the adventure soon entangles them in a perilous conflict involving modern-day pirates, criminals, and a legendary treasure.

In this game, players assume the role of Majima and have the opportunity to assemble a unique crew and upgrade their ship, the “Goromaru,” while engaging in battles with pirate ships and discovering hidden islands. The game provides dynamic combat through two distinct fighting styles:

  • Sea Dog Style: Players can dual-wield short swords or use pirate tools to execute devastating combos.
  • Mad Dog Style: A classic from Majima’s past, this style emphasizes agility, speed, and flair as players unleash powerful moves to defeat enemies.

Players will explore expansive oceanic landscapes and partake in exhilarating naval battles as they uncover new adventures, all the while unlocking upgrades and customizing their ship and crew.

Sega and RGG Studio have introduced various pre-order options for Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii:

  • Standard Edition (Digital/Physical)
  • Deluxe Edition (Digital): Includes exclusive DLC customization packs and character content.
  • Collector’s Edition (Physical): Comprises the base game, Deluxe Edition DLC, and exclusive merchandise such as a replica of Goro Majima’s iconic eye patch and a treasure coin pin.

Players who pre-order will receive two special bonuses: the “Ichiban Pirate Crew Set” DLC, which introduces Like a Dragon character Ichiban Kasuga and his pet crawfish Nancy to Majima’s crew, and the “Ichiban Special Outfit Set,” enabling Majima to wear two of Kasuga’s signature outfits.

For those new to the series, Sega is offering Like a Dragon/Yakuza starter bundles, offering a comprehensive way to experience the rich storytelling and action that has defined the franchise from the beginning.
