Nintendo Switch 2 May Launch With Two SKUs, Price Expected Around $400
The announcement window and price of the Nintendo Switch successor, dubbed Switch 2, have possibly been leaked by the insider who had correctly leaked the PS5 Pro announcement date.
A week ago, an insider on the GTA VI discord server by the name of moistycharlie had leaked the announcement date and price of the PS5 Pro. The same individual has now teased the announcement window and price of the Nintendo Switch 2. According to them, the unannounced console will be announced early next month in October, 2024. They also mentioned hearing that it will have a base MSRP of 399 US Dollars.
The insider further mentioned that the Nintendo Switch 2 will be available in two different SKUs, though they haven’t received clarification from their sources regarding the specific differences between them. Earlier rumors had also suggested a price point of 399 US Dollars for the Nintendo Switch 2. Taiwain’s Economic Daily had shared that the new console will retail for a $100 more than the Nintendo Switch. As for the Nintendo Switch 2’s announcement, the official word from Shuntaro Furukawa, president of Nintendo, is that the console will be revealed before the end of the current fiscal year. The company’s fiscal year ends in March, 2025.
Recently, during an episode of the VGC podcast, Chris Dring, head of GamesIndustry.biz, had mentioned hearing from his sources that the Nintendo Switch 2 will be a dual screen type product that might, whether it’s actually two screens on the handheld itself or the handheld screen and the TV working in sync in order to deliver that sort of an experience. A dual screen experience is something the Wii U had offered with its dedicated display on its tablet controller. Several first-party titles took advantage of the feature, but given the console’s limited success, it didn’t get much support from third-party game developers.
