The digital pre-load for IO Interactive’s upcoming action-adventure game, 007 First Light, is only available for PS5.
An IO Interactive staff member took to Reddit to confirm that 007 First Light will not have a digital pre-load on Steam or Xbox. They clarified that the earliest point to download the game on either of the two platforms will be tied to the official release time. Furthermore, they apologized for any inconvenience this may have brought to those who pre-ordered the game on Steam and Xbox. Meanwhile, they confirmed that PlayStation will be the only platform to offer a pre-load, as it is mandatory on the platform.

In a subsequent post, the IO Interactive staff member clarified confusion surrounding the naming of 007 First Light pre-orders on Steam. According to them, the game is referred to in the Steam library as Standard Edition. This is due to platform specific naming conventions. Those who have pre-ordered on Steam will have access to the game at the start of the Early Access period and receive all the entitlements attached to the Deluxe Edition upgrade. The Standard Edition will be renamed to Deluxe Edition shortly after the game’s full release, which is 24 hours after the Early Access period begins.
