The Santa Monica studio at Activision is currently working on a 3D mobile game based on an established IP, according to a recent job listing.

The listing (via IdleSloth84_ on Twitter/X), which has since been filled, was for an Associate Art Director position at the publisher’s Santa Monica, California studio. While the job posting didn’t reveal the name of the project or the established IP involved, it offered some insight into the game’s scope. According to the job description, the new recruit will work closely with the creative team to establish, communicate, and maintain the visual quality of the project. The position will provide creative supervision across all visual disciplines, including characters, enemies, environments, animation, visual effects, user interface, and concept art.

The successful candidate would also be responsible for helping ensure that the game maintains a cohesive visual identity and delivers an experience that feels authentic to its established IP. The Associate Art Director will work with internal teams and external development partners, reviewing content throughout production and providing clear, actionable feedback. They would ultimately help guide the project toward its creative and quality goals while working under the direction of a Creative Director.

Activision has previously brought several of its major franchises to mobile through games like Call of Duty: Mobile and Warzone Mobile. However, the job listing doesn’t indicate which franchise this new 3D mobile game project refers to.

Back in October, 2022, during an interview on the Microsoft TechTalk show, former Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer stated that the company’s main attraction for acquiring Activision Blizzard King is its mobile division. He said that when Microsoft looked at ABK, a vast majority of the people who play games from Activision Blizzard King were playing mobile versions of their games. This included King games like Candy Crush that many play on their phones.
