Alan Wake Remastered is revamped version of the Xbox 360 release that was also available on PC, but is this new upgrade worth the price?
While Remedy Entertainment has shared an official comparison video, we now have a more detailed comparison between the original release of the game and the remastered version. While some of the changes do look a lot better, others can lead to a little downgrade especially with the way Alan Wake’s character model has been overhauled.
The new Alan Wake can indeed look a lot better and it fits with the Control crossover. It was a necessary change but if we compare it side-by-side to the original release, it does look a little off in some of the scenes.
As for the comparison between the Xbox platforms, have a look at the video below.
Unfortunately, the Xbox One version appears to suffer from some major bugs that are affecting the performance of the game. Textures can cause issues at times and there is still the dreaded tearing present. Cutscenes can exhibit FPS drops on the Xbox One. These issues don’t appear to happen on the new Xbox Series consoles, so at least you are safe with it.
Alan Wake Remastered is also available on the PS5. The game should run at 60 FPS on the PS5 just like it does on the Xbox Series consoles. In the case of Xbox Series X, you get 1440p at 60 FPS. In the case of Xbox Series S, you get 1080p at 60 FPS. So while this is a remaster of an old game, it is quite demanding even for the new hardware.
Alan Wake Remastered is available now for the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, and PC.
