Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Hinokami Chronicles PS4 vs. PS5 Comparison Video

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Hinokami Chronicles is available for both PS4 and PS5, but it currently doesn’t offer much in terms of an upgrade.

While the game supports a higher resolution on PS5, this appears to be the extent of the update. The load times are also faster, but the game doesn’t really have long load times in the first place. They are near-instant on the PS5 though, compared to the PS4.

The biggest difference could be with a post-launch update. The developers are promising a 60 FPS patch for the PS5 that will be released after launch. As it stands, both versions run at 30 FPS which is disappointing, to say the least. I also noticed that the frame rate can cause some fluctuations during the effect heavy scenes. It tends to happen more on the PS5.

It is safe to say that at launch, the PS4 and PS5 versions of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Hinokami Chronicles are not that different. The IQ is picture-perfect on the PS5 while you can notice some minor aliasing on the PS4. Otherwise, it is a pretty good port that unfortunately runs at 30 FPS.

The game doesn’t appear to utilize the DualSense controller, at least from what I was able to check. So aside from the 60 FPS performance, that will arrive through a post-launch update, the resolution is the only major difference along with the near-instant load times. We didn’t get to check the PC or Xbox Series version but the art style of this game tends to be less demanding, so we don’t expect to see major differences here.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Hinokami Chronicles is available now for the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, and PC.
