Destiny 2 has been upgraded to a next-generation version with an update on PS5, Xbox Series S, and X. The game now runs at 60 FPS with fast load times.
Destiny 2 has received its latest expansion earlier in November and it was followed by an upgrade for the PS5 and Xbox Series S and X. This upgrade leads to a dynamic 4K resolution on the next-generation consoles that run at 60 FPS. This frame rate is double that of the last generation consoles so it is a welcome upgrade all around.
Our friends at VGTech have shared a technical analysis on Destiny 2 providing us an overview of the various limits and average frame rate on the next-generation consoles.
According to VGTech, the game renders at a dynamic 4K resolution on the Xbox Series X and PS5. Microsoft’s console holds this resolution fairly well while having minor dips but it is overall more stable than the PS5.
“PS5 and Xbox Series X use a dynamic resolution with the highest resolution found being 3840×2160 and the lowest resolution found being approximately 2346×2160 on both consoles. PS5 and Xbox Series X often render at a resolution of 3840×2160, but in the scenes tested, the resolution on PS5 was below 3840×2160 more often than Xbox Series X was.”
Xbox Series S, meanwhile, runs at a dynamic 1080p resolution that can drop as low as 1536×1080. This means it only drops on the horizontal axis while maintaining it on the vertical axis. Overall, Xbox Series S is not a bad deal here considering the price since it offers 60 FPS experience.
