Square Enix has announced the release date for Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age and Final Fantasy X|X-2 HD Remaster for Nintendo Switch and Xbox One.
Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age is a remaster of the PS2 release that was exclusive to Japan. This featured new content and further improvements that were never released for the Western market. The updated remaster also improved the visuals and it is available on PS4 and PC. There was never any release for the Xbox One or Nintendo Switch until in 2019 when the game will be out on both platforms.
Final Fantasy X|X-2 HD Remaster is a complete remake of the PS2 original. It improved the visuals and made significant changes for them including the character models, which are divisive among the fans. The remaster was first available for PS3 and PS Vita. It was later ported to the PS4 and PC. This can be finally played on the Xbox One and Nintendo Switch later this year.
The release date for Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age is set for April 30 while the Final Fantasy X|X-2 HD Remaster will launch on April 16. Both of these are for the Nintendo Switch and Xbox One as confirmed by Square Enix. In addition to these two games, Square Enix also has Final Fantasy VII and Final Fantasy IX set to release in 2019.
