GOT Director’s Cut is out today along with a new patch. You need to install update 2.04 in order to transfer save in Ghost of Tsushima from PS4 to PS5.
The new update is needed in order to transfer your save data, so make sure you have it installed. Understandably, many of you might have already sold your PS4 if you have purchased your PS5, even in this case, there is a hope that you might be able to get your save data out and continue on the PS5.
How To Transfer Save From Ghost of Tsushima on PS4 to PS5
You need to keep two things in mind before transferring your save data.
Transfer From Local Storage
In order to transfer from local storage, simply pick the choice “Transfer PS4 Console Save” in the main menu.
Transfer from Cloud Storage
If you had PS Plus and enabled auto-save data upload, or manually upload your save data, you need to download it to local storage first. You need to go into the storage menu on your PS5 and access your PS Plus cloud save data there. Locate Ghost of Tsushima and then download the save to your PS5. Repeat the above step to transfer your save data.
How To Transfer Save Data If You Have Sold Your PS4?
You best hope that either you have the save copied on a backup device like USB or had it uploaded to the cloud. If you don’t have both, then you are just out of luck. There is no way to transfer your save data. It is gone, dusted, lost to the wind. If you still have your PS4 with the save data, you can back it up to the cloud or a USB and then copy it over to the PS5.
Sucker Punch has also confirmed that trophies will carry over to the PS5 when you transfer your save data.
