Horizon Forbidden West Reportedly Delayed To Q1 2022

Guerrilla Games and PlayStation Studios have reportedly delayed Horizon Forbidden West to Q1 2022 according to a new report.

Horizon Forbidden West had just received its first gameplay footage back in Summer during the State of Play. After that, we learned that the developers will announce the release date in the coming days, but that hasn’t happened as of yet.

The rumor about the game being delayed first started after GamesBeat editor Jeff Grubb mentioned that he had heard musings of the game being delayed to 2022. Another source has now backed this rumor, this time from Jason Schreier who works at Bloomberg. He mentions that the game is now delayed to the first quarter of 2022.

Horizon Forbidden West is the follow-up to the smash hit Horizon Zero Dawn that was released in 2017 exclusively for the PS4 and then ported to PC in 2020. It has sold more than 10 million copies on PS4 making it an incredibly successful new IP for Sony.

Horizon Forbidden West was supposed to release in the PS5’s launch year, but that ship has gone. It was aiming for a 2021 release date, but according to this latest rumor, it won’t make the cut for this year. The new release window is rumored to be in Q1 2022, which implies it may be released between January and March 2022.

The game is cross-platform and will be released for the PS4 and PS5. It is currently being developed by Guerrilla Games. After the delay, it will join other big first-party and third-party exclusives that are planned for 2022 including the God of War sequel and Ghostwire Tokyo.
