Sega and Microsoft Join Hands To Create “Large-Scale, Global Games”

Sega and Microsoft have announced a new strategic partner letting both use each other’s products and experience to develop new strategic titles.

In the official press release that confirmed this announcement, it was revealed that this partnership will lead to the establishment of a next-generation environment letting the companies create large-scale, global games. Since the use of Microsoft Azure Cloud was mentioned, it was assumed that this is either related to the use of Cloud or an online-focused title with global appeal.

This will become a major part of the mid to long-term strategy of Sega that is aiming to create a “Super Game” which his being described as “new and innovative titles where the key focuses are ‘Global’, ‘Online’, ‘Community’ and ‘IP utilization’.”

“SEGA has played such an iconic role in the gaming industry and has been a tremendous partner over the years, ” said Sarah Bond, CVP, Microsoft Corporation.

“We look forward to working together as they explore new ways to create unique gaming experiences for the future using Microsoft cloud technologies. Together we will reimagine how games get built, hosted, and operated, with a goal of adding more value to players and SEGA alike.”
