Analyst Dr. Serkan Toto has predicted that the Nintendo Switch 2 will offer an iterative upgrade over its predecessor rather than being one that is revolutionary.

Dr. Serkan Toto, a Japan based analyst and CEO of game industry consultancy, Kantan Games, has shared his predictions for the year 2024. He has predicted that the next game console from Nintendo, dubbed the Switch 2, is likely to be an iterative upgrade rather than being one that is revolutionary.

Nintendo switch 2 iterative upgrade

According to Dr. Toto, the time is finally here for a Switch successor. He explained that a “Pro” model actually did exist and certain developers were already working with its development kit. He believes that the Nintendo Switch 2 will launch in 2024 for the price of $400.

Dr. Toto stated that there is a high chance that Nintendo Switch 2 games will cost more than those of its predecessor, mentioning the price tag of $70. He added that the next system is likely to be an iteration rather than a revolution. Nintendo might add some bells and whistles to the device, but, as per him, it will be similar to the current Switch. He mentioned that, because there is Pokémon, and Pokémon is associated with handheld gaming, there is no possibility where Nintendo will drop the portability feature for the Switch 2.

The Kantan Games CEO’s predictions appear to be on point, and we don’t see anything that stands out as inconsistent with prior rumors regarding the Nintendo Switch 2. One feature that the new console is expected to support is backwards compatibility with the Nintendo Switch titles. Speaking during an interview, Nintendo of America President Doug Bowser hinted at the strong possibility of the Switch 2 supporting backwards compatibility. Bowser stated that one thing Nintendo has already done with the Switch with regards to the communication of this transition is the formation of the Nintendo Account.
