Baldur’s Gate 3 Update 2.1 Hotfix Resolves Save Data Issue
Larian Studios has released a quick hotfix 2.1 for Baldur’s Gate 3 that is aimed at resolving the issue with the save data if it grew too large.
If you are one of the players who had issues with their save game after spending a large amount of time in the game, this hotfix will resolve it and hopefully leads to fewer crashes the more you play it.
Baldur’s Gate 3 Update 2.1 Hotfix Patch Notes
Here is the statement shared by Larian Studios on the new changes.
Hello everyone,
As it turns out, many of you were doing so much in Baldur’s Gate 3 that some of your personal ‘story’ databases (where your choices and actions are stored) got too big. We now made the size infinite (or at least as infinite as you have storage space), to account for the sheer amount of things you’re all doing on your journeys.
As of today, we’re also reactivating cross-saves as we near our PlayStation 5 launch.
Hotfix #3 is currently in the oven, and will include further fixes in the near future.
Please reach out to our support team if you encounter any troubles on your journey through the Forgotten Realms.
- Fixed an issue with save games that could occur if a save file grew too large.
- Re-enabled Larian Cloud savegames.
Baldur’s Gate 3 is one of the most played games on PC. It has shattered the launch record of several other games in its genre and managed to achieve more than 800K concurrent players during its debut week. The game started development as part of Early Access and received a full launch earlier in August.
In Baldur’s Gate 3, the player’s character is infected with a mind flayer parasite, awakening mysterious abilities. The player can choose to resist the darkness or embrace corruption and become an ultimate evil. The narrative explores themes of fellowship, betrayal, sacrifice, survival, and the temptation of absolute power. The player’s choices will determine the fate of the Forgotten Realms, caught in a conflict between devils, deities, and other sinister forces.
The game offers unprecedented freedom to explore, experiment, and interact with a thriving world filled with characters, dangers, and deceit. Verticality is emphasized in exploration, allowing players to sneak, dip, shove, climb, and jump across diverse environments. Players can adventure, loot, battle, and even romance their way across the Forgotten Realms and beyond. The game supports online play with a party of up to four.
Baldur’s Gate 3 is available now for PC. It is also planned to launch for the PS5 later this year.
