Battlefield 2042 is available for both PS5 and Xbox Series, so which console manages to run this new game better? Find out in this comparison video.
Battlefield 2042 is the first proper current-generation game in the series that has taken advantage of the console hardware to offer 4K at 60 FPS. If you remember, Battlefield V was only running at a higher resolution on the Xbox Series X leaving the PS5 version behind, but the tables have turned for this new game.
The new comparison between the final retail version of Battlefield 2042 appears to reveal some curious differences between the two major consoles. Xbox Series S renders the game at 1260p resolution and seems to offer the best performance out of the two other consoles. The PS5 and Xbox Series X run the game at 4K resolution at 60 FPS, but they can drop performance during certain sections.
In terms of the visual difference, the resolution of textures appears sharper on the PS5 comparable to the PC version while the Series X has better anisotropic filtering. Xbox Series X holds up performance slightly better than the PS5.
So what about the Series S? As expected, it gets some cuts in resolution from the draw distance, texture quality, to the vegetation. It is not the most graphically impressive version, but it performs well and that should matter in the end.
PC version takes the cake for the visual prowess and supports ray-tracing, higher shadow quality, and a slew of other upgrades including DLSS.
