How to Farm Legacy Raids More Efficiently
Pick a Fast Class
Fast classes with a lot of movement abilities will give you a massive edge, since you’ll be doing a lot of running, and the faster you move, the more efficient your raid run will be. Druids in Cat Form are arguably the best of the bunch. Outlaw Rogues also do really well, and Hunters are a solid pick too, especially with Aspect of the Cheetah. Even Demon Hunters can pull off great speed builds with the right talents and gear.
However, if you don’t main one of these classes—or don’t even have a speedy alt—don’t worry. You can still boost your movement speed with the right tools, even on slower characters.
Get a Speed Set
Since we mentioned speed-boosting tools, it’s time to talk about speed sets, which are basically gear pieces that give you speed buffs. Unfortunately, speed stats on gear are completely RNG-based, so there’s no reliable way to target them directly, but you still can find great pieces on the Auction House.
Just don’t stress out about getting every single slot packed with a huge bonus. Even just a couple of good speed items can make a difference and significantly cut down your run times.
Other Items That Can Speed You Up
Some trinkets, like Uncanny Pocketwatch, for example, can give you a nice boost on top of your speed set.
You can also take advantage of speed enchants. They come in all shapes and colors for everything from boots to chest pieces, and you can craft them yourself if you’ve got Enchanting or just grab a bunch off the Auction House. As always, higher-rank items give better boosts.
Gems are another great way to squeeze out extra speed from your gear. Straddling gems from Shadowlands are our personal favorites. They don’t offer huge buffs, but when you’re trying to minimize your farm time, every bit counts. Just keep in mind that in order to use gems, your gear needs sockets. You can farm socketed pieces from old content or pick some up on the AH.
There are also profession-crafted options like the Shimmerthread Cord from Engineering, and, of course, let’s not forget about consumables! Items like Charged Phial of Alacrity, Potion of Reborn Cheetah, or Potion Bomb of Speed will provide you with temporary speed buffs. There’s food too: Fried Bonefish gives you a short boost on each kill, while Exquisitely Eviscerated Muscle offers a passive bonus with a solid chunk of healing to boot.
Battle for Azeroth Raids Give More Gold
When it comes to raw gold per hour, Battle for Azeroth raids are hands-down the most profitable of all. The raw gold gains are very solid, and BfA weapons usually vendor for far better prices than what you’d get from other older raids. On top of that, trash mobs and bosses can drop some seriously valuable BoE gear that often sells for a premium on the Auction House.
Another big plus is that these raids are super quick and easy to run. A max-level character can shred through each boss in under a minute, even without high-end gear.
Farm Every Difficulty
For those who want to maximize their gold gains, it’s better to run each raid on every available difficulty.
If you’re playing a geared max-level character, you’ll have zero trouble soloing legacy raids, even on Mythic. These extra runs won’t take much of your time, but the profits you make will be multiplied several times over.
Also, don’t ignore LFR, as it’s actually one of the most profitable modes to farm. You won’t have to waste time looking for the entrance, since special LFR NPCs can send you straight into raids and even teleport you directly to specific bosses. All that will make your runs much faster, with the raw gold gains being almost the same as on Normal or Heroic.
Quick Ways to Get In and Out of Legacy Raids
Legacy raids are easy to run and incredibly rewarding, but getting to them (and especially leaving after a run) can be very time-consuming. Luckily, there are a couple of tools and shortcuts that can speed up your trips.
Your Hearthstone can help you return to any inn or resting location, including your faction’s capital, in mere seconds.
Faction cloaks like the Cloak of Coordination or Wrap of Unity will instantly teleport you to Stormwind or Orgrimmar from anywhere, including raids. These can be bought from a guild vendor, though you’ll need to unlock certain achievements and reputation levels to make a purchase.
A handful of unique items can also teleport you directly to specific raid entrances. For example, Violet Seal of the Grand Magus takes you to Karazhan, and Fractured Necrolyte Skull sends you straight to Black Temple.
If you’re a Mage, you can also use portals to get out of instances or reach raid locations more easily. For everyone else, Engineering Wormhole generators will be of massive help. These toys are account-wide, so once you craft or buy one, all your characters can use them (as long as they have the required Engineering skill).
And lastly, there’s a nice group trick that solo legacy farmers have been using for years. All you have to do is open the Group Finder, go to Premade Groups, create a custom group, and then just leave the party. It’ll set up a timer, and the game will automatically teleport you out in about 60 seconds. It’s not exactly an instant portal, but it’s still way faster than running all the way back to the entrance to leave or reset the raid.
