Bethesda Is Reportedly Working On Multiple Fallout Projects, Possibly Including New Vegas 2

Bethesda Softworks is currently working on multiple projects based on the Fallout IP, possibly including New Vegas 2, according to a new report.

During the latest episode of the Friends Per Second podcast, VGC’s Jordan Middler talked about Microsoft having multiple big game franchises, one of which is Fallout. As per him, there are multiple Fallout projects in development, including, as far he’s aware, the one fans are wanting. However,  he mentioned that it’s not far enough in development for him say that people will be playing it anytime soon. Later in the discussion, he said, “Anyway, New Vegas 2 coming soon.”

Middler is of the opinion that Microsoft should’ve immediately had work started on Fallout 5 after acquiring Bethesda Game Studios. However, that didn’t happen. While he only mentioned the name of Fallout New Vegas 2, it’s likely that the next numbered entry in the action role-playing game series is also in development.

Las year, during an episode of a Q&A series on his YouTube channel, Josh Sawyer, the Fallout: New Vegas director, was asked how he would respond if he was asked by Microsoft to lead another Fallout project. He said that choosing to do any project has to do with what it is aiming to do, what are the boundaries that will need to be worked within, and what he would be allowed to do and not allowed to do. According to him, with any IP, especially one he has worked with before, the question is about what he wants to do this time that he wasn’t able to do the last time.

Sawyer said that if the constraints are just really constraining, it’s not very appealing to him because he wouldn’t want to work on something where the one area he wants to explore is not possible to explore. Though, he expressed his passion towards the Fallout IP, and believes that there are still a ton of stories that can be told and questions that can be asked.
