Borderlands 4 Developers Outline Fixes Planned for Upcoming Update

by Ali Haider

The creative team behind Borderlands 4 has begun sharing details on several fixes and improvements scheduled for an upcoming update. Speaking on Twitter/X, Creative Director Graeme Timmins responded to fan concerns and confirmed that the development team is currently addressing multiple gameplay issues.

One of the most notable issues involves Vex’s Bleed ability, which is no longer functioning as a proper status effect. Timmins explained, “We’ve discovered that Vex’s Bleed is no longer behaving as a Status Effect. This was not intended. While we plan on addressing Bleed in the future, this ‘stealth’ change was actually just an accident. We are establishing a timeline to reinstate the status effect behavior.” Fans have also reported problems with bounty contracts not spawning correctly, with Timmins reassuring players that fixes are in the works while suggesting they abandon contracts in the meantime to pick up new ones.

Beyond ability and quest fixes, the development team is preparing adjustments to the game’s Echo Location system. According to Timmins, “We’re looking at some improvements to Echo Location for an upcoming patch. We’ve seen the feedback and agree that the time and frequency of using Echo-4’s pathing isn’t ideal.” Additional feedback has been noted regarding loot filter settings and lost specialization points, with the director confirming that both areas are under review for future updates.

While fans on newer hardware, such as PlayStation 5 Pr,o inquired about visual enhancements, Timmins clarified that the studio’s current focus remains on stability and performance across all platforms. He also confirmed that fixes for broader technical issues, such as patch downloads not applying properly, will be handled through both support tickets and upcoming updates.

Borderlands 4, developed by Gearbox Software and published by 2K, released on September 12, 2025, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Windows PC. The game, set six years after the events of Borderlands 3, introduces a new group of Vault Hunters on the planet Kairos. A Nintendo Switch 2 version is also in development, though no release date has yet been announced.
