Activision and Treyarch’s Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 Zombies will bring back a fan-favorite mode with a unique twist, based on a new rumor.
Details regarding the gameplay and launch map featured in the Zombies mode for Black Ops 7, have allegedly been revealed by Call of Duty insider TheGhostOfHope. If the leak is accurate, developer Treyarch may be bringing back a fan-favorite mode with a major twist.

According to the insider, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7’s launch map will essentially revisit the core idea behind TranZit from Black Ops 2, but with “bigger places” to explore. Players can expect a large, interconnected map with multiple locations. The setting reportedly takes place entirely within the Heart of the Dark Aether, putting players deep in the series’ supernatural dimension. The Dark Aether backdrop will likely offer a darker, more atmospheric tone right off the bat.
The insider also claimed that players will be able to choose from either two members of the original crew or two characters from the Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Requiem team, and they will interact and talk to each other. For those who prefer to go on a nostalgia trip, the game will also allow you to run a squad entirely made up of the original crew or the full Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 lineup. However, they clarified that mixing and mashing both will be rewarding, as it will unlock the aforementioned dialogue and interactions between characters from both crews.
TheGhostOfHope also said that the upcoming title‘s Zombies mode will stick to the series’ four-player co-op limit, rather than expanding to a higher player count. This could be linked to the potential return of Grief, a competitive mode where two teams attempt to outlast each other against zombies. The mode was brought back in Black Ops 6 after skipping Black Ops Cold War.
