Call Of Duty Studio Sledgehammer Games Is Hiring Developers With “Switch Experience”

Sledgehammer Games, one of the studios behind Activision’s Call of Duty series, is currently hiring developers with “Switch experience”.

According to a job listing for the position of Senior Technical Artist (Animation tools) at Sledgehammer Games, the studio may be working on a game for the Nintendo Switch. Back when Microsoft acquired Activision, it revealed plans to bring the long-running first-person shooter series to Nintendo platforms. It’s likely that the software giant is now going forward with those plans.

As a Senior Technical Artist, the new recruit at Sledgehammer Games’ Toronto, Canada-based studio will work as part of its tech art team to build, deliver, and support art tools, workflows, and assets that enable artists and designers to quickly integrate content and features into its games. They will act as a bridge between art and engineering in order to facilitate problem-solving between departments. This includes proactively identifying problems, proposing solutions, and working fluidly with other team members to improve animation workflow and quality of life, collaborating across disciplines and multiple studios to improve upon, add value and push the boundaries for rigging tools, rigging workflow and emerging AI technology for rigging. and collaborating closely with engineering to develop creative product requirements for animation in both DCC tools and ‘in engine’.

Furthermore, “AAA Mobile or Switch experience” and “live service games” are mentioned in the bonus experience section of the job listing, suggesting that the Sledgehammer Games may be hiring for a new Call of Duty title being developed for the Nintendo Switch and mobile platforms. Since its inception in 2009, the studio has only worked on Call of Duty titles, so it’s fair to assume its next project is another entry in the series.

Last year, insider Ghost of Hope claimed that Sledgehammer Games will release its own entry in the Call of Duty series in 2027. According to them, the game will come after Infinity Ward’s Call of Duty title in 2026, which is presumably Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4. They clarified that the Sledgehammer Games title is not a Year 2 Modern Warfare game like Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3.
