Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered Gets Review Bombed On Steam After Shut Down Of Multiplayer Mod

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered is getting review bombed on Steam after Activision shut down a new multiplayer mod.

The multiplayer mod for the PC version, known as H2M, was set to bring the multiplayer mode from 2009’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered with the latter’s updated visuals. However, before this could happen, Activision sent out a Cease and Desist letter to shut down the mod ahead of its release.

Modern warfare remastered review bombed

Since its launch on Steam, the game had been a top seller on the digital platform. However, after the H2M mod was shut down by Activision, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered has been getting review bombed by those who had purchased it and had undoubtedly been looking forward to the multiplayer mod. Recent reviews are tagged as “Overwhelmingly Negative” on the game’s store page.

Those who bought Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered on Steam are calling it a waste of money, as the H2M multiplayer mod and the chance to play 2009’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 was the primary draw for this purchase. One review mentioned, “The effort Activition put into making sure you don’t have fun in this game, is the most effort ever.” Others are also complaining about technical issues in getting the game to run. “Only bought this game for the mod, and the crap I had to do in order to get the base game to run was ridiculous.”

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered was developed by Raven Software and published by Activision in 2016. It is a remastered edition of 2007’s Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare and was initially included in the special edition bundles of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, released in November 2016 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. A standalone version became available for these platforms in mid-2017.
