The Callisto Protocol Devs Want To Use PS5 DualSense Features To Scare Players

by Ali Haider

If you’re a fan of the phenomenal Dead Space series of games, then you’re probably aware by now of the existence of the upcoming The Callisto Protocol.

But for those not in the know as of yet, this is the next game being developed by Glen Schofield, who is one of the two co-creators of the Dead Space series. His new game was announced barely a month ago at The Game Awards 2020, and sadly, it seems to have gone under the radar of a lot of people.

The legend himself is working on this game with his new Striking Distance Studios, and according to the February 2021 issue of the Official PlayStation Magazine UK, his team is considering implementing PS5 DualSense features into the title.

Nothing is finalized right now, but Glen Schofield has mentioned that they’re looking into how to deliver scares through the DualSense haptic feedback.

He also spoke a bit about the level of graphical fidelity afforded by modern hardware and the new current-gen consoles, saying that:

What we’re building, right? It looks real. And, you know, they’ve looked real before, but it looks more real. There’s so much detail we can put into it now, it’s crazy. – Glen Schofield.

He’s talking purely about how far the look and feel of video games have evolved over the years, and how the game they’re developing looks more realistic than anything they’ve ever made before.

Readers can check out the Official PlayStation Magazine UK Issue 184 for themselves if they want to learn more. The interview goes into much more detail about the setting of the game and the work being put into it by Striking Distance Studios.

The Callisto Protocol is set to release in 2022 on the Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and the PC.
