Capcom Details Monster Hunter Wilds Performance Gains Ahead of Update

Capcom has shared new comparison footage highlighting planned performance improvements for Monster Hunter Wilds ahead of its upcoming free update scheduled for December 16. The company released two separate videos showcasing low to mid-spec PC systems running the game, offering an early look at how performance is expected to improve following the deployment of Free Title Update 4. The footage compares gameplay from Free Title Update 3 against the upcoming update, focusing specifically on performance behavior rather than new content.

The first comparison video was recorded using a system aligned with the recommended Steam version system requirements. The test environment consisted of an Intel Core i5-10400 CPU paired with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 Super featuring 8GB of VRAM. Gameplay was captured at a 1080p upscaled resolution using NVIDIA DLSS set to Performance mode, with graphics settings configured to Medium. Capcom noted that frame generation was disabled during testing, and performance metrics were captured using Steam’s in-game overlay performance monitor.

A second comparison video highlights a similar scenario using AMD hardware. This setup featured an AMD Ryzen 5 5600X CPU alongside an AMD Radeon RX 6600 GPU with 8GB of VRAM. As with the Intel and NVIDIA configuration, gameplay was recorded at a 1080p upscaled resolution, this time using AMD FSR in Performance mode, again with Medium graphics settings. The same testing conditions applied, including disabled frame generation and performance tracking through Steam’s overlay tools.

Capcom emphasized that these videos represent only one example of potential performance outcomes. The company cautioned that results may vary depending on individual PC configurations and environmental factors. It also clarified that the footage reflects content still in development, meaning aspects of performance behavior may change prior to the update’s release.

Earlier reports indicated that Free Title Update 4 will introduce several gameplay additions alongside these technical refinements. The update adds the Elder Dragon Gogmazios, expands the weapon endgame, and includes new challenges such as Arch Tempered Jin Dahaad. Players will also be able to participate in the Festival of Accord: Lumenhymn when the update arrives on December 16.

Beyond this update, Capcom confirmed that its technical improvement roadmap for Monster Hunter Wilds extends into early 2026. Planned enhancements include further CPU and GPU optimizations, platform-specific adjustments, and additional graphics settings for the Steam version. Version 1.041, currently targeted for February, is expected to refine memory processes and level-of-detail behavior, aiming to deliver smoother performance during more demanding hunts.

Monster Hunter Wilds is an action role-playing game developed and published by Capcom using the RE Engine. The title launched globally on February 28, 2025, for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S, and supports cross-platform play.
