CD Projekt Red has confirmed that the steep discount recently seen for Cyberpunk 2077 on the Nintendo Switch 2 eShop was the result of an internal error. The pricing issue briefly reduced Cyberpunk 2077 Ultimate Edition by as much as 75 percent, dropping the title to approximately $17.50 from its regular price of $99.99. The unexpected discount quickly drew attention and led many players to assume the price was a mistake rather than an intentional promotion.
The situation gained further visibility when an official Nintendo press release also referenced the 75 percent discount for Cyberpunk 2077 Ultimate Edition. This detail suggested the issue originated with CD Projekt Red’s submission rather than a storefront-level error on Nintendo’s side. As a result, confusion spread rapidly, with players rushing to purchase the game before the price changed.
CD Projekt Red has now addressed the matter directly, confirming that the discount was submitted incorrectly. In a statement shared publicly, the company said, “The discounts for Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Complete Edition displayed on Nintendo Switch 2 eShop in the Americas on December 22, 2025, were incorrect.” The studio clarified that the issue stemmed from its own internal processes rather than a technical malfunction on Nintendo’s platform.
The statement continued, “The situation is a result of an error we made when submitting the discount. We have corrected the error and new discounts have now been applied.” With this correction in place, pricing for both titles has returned to intended levels on the Switch 2 eShop. However, CD Projekt Red also confirmed that customers who purchased the game during the pricing window will not be penalized.
Addressing player concerns directly, the company stated, “Purchases made at the previous discount rate are unaffected by this change.” This confirmation ensures that anyone who managed to buy Cyberpunk 2077 Ultimate Edition at the erroneous price will retain access to the game without any additional charges or revocations. While brief, that clarification effectively closed the door on fears of refunds being reversed or licenses being removed.
Cyberpunk 2077 Ultimate Edition represents the most complete version of the game, bundling the base experience with additional content. Its arrival on Nintendo Switch 2 marked a notable expansion of the title to new hardware, and the temporary price drop made it one of the most talked about listings on the eShop. Even so, the discount was never intended to be live at that scale.
