Firaxis Games has released Update 1.1.0 for Sid Meier’s Civilization VII, marking the first significant post-launch update for the game. This update includes both free and paid content, bringing gameplay balances, quality-of-life improvements, and new features influenced by community feedback. Players on all platforms, including PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch, now have access to the latest version, with crossplay fully restored across all supported systems.
A new Feature Spotlight section in the update notes highlights major gameplay refinements, including an overhaul to the Geographic Society victory path. Additionally, the update introduces new civilizations, leaders, and Wonders as part of the first Crossroads of the World Collection, a paid DLC expansion. Console players will also benefit from multiple fixes that bring their version in line with the PC experience.

Geographic Society Victory Rework
The Modern Cultural Legacy Path: Geographic Society has been rebalanced to address pacing and balance issues, preventing players from rushing this victory too quickly while ensuring fair competition. Key changes include:
- Explorer Units now have an increased cost to slow down early-game rush strategies.
- Fewer Exploration Age artifacts now spawn per continent, making artifact collection more strategic.
- Natural Wonders can now provide artifacts, with a new Natural History Mastery unlocking this ability.
- Additional artifacts can be earned in the late game by completing the Future Civic (repeatable).
- AI improvements make it more competitive in pursuing the Geographic Society victory.
These adjustments aim to make this victory path more engaging and balanced across all difficulty levels.
New Features
- Explorers gain +1 Sight and the ability to collect artifacts from Natural Wonders after researching Natural History Mastery.
- Holy Cities can now be converted, though player-created Missionaries will always follow the player’s chosen Religion.
- Hegemony and Militarism have swapped places in the Civic tree, now requiring Nationalism and Globalism.
- The Continents lens now highlights Natural Wonders that can provide Modern Age artifacts.

- Napoleon, Emperor can no longer reject Sanctions for free.

- America now receives +2 Resource slots when constructing their Unique Quarter.
- Buganda’s Nyanza Civic Effect now grants +1 Happiness and +1 Culture to Quarters adjacent to Rivers or Lakes.
- Meiji Japan now has +1 Resource slots in the Zaibatsu Unique Quarter.
- Siam’s Itsaraphab action now costs 50% more than the standard Befriend Independent action.
- Fixed a bug where Siam was sometimes not properly unlocked in the Modern Age after being discovered in the Exploration Age.
AI & Gameplay Adjustments
- AI is now better at pursuing the Geographic Society victory by researching at Museums and Universities, collecting artifacts, and completing Civics.
- AI now properly spends all points during an Advanced Start setup.
- Naval Units can now disperse Independent Powers.
- Sanctions can now be used at a Neutral Relationship, with costs decreasing as hostility increases.
- Refinements made to the Army Unpacking action, allowing players more control over unit positioning.
- Oil Rigs now benefit from Warehouse bonuses provided by the Ironworks and Combustion Tech Masteries.
Natural Wonders & Memento Rebalancing
- Added the Bermuda Triangle as a Natural Wonder.
- Numerous Mementos have been adjusted to improve balance. Some overpowered Mementos have been toned down, while underused ones have been enhanced.
- Example: Crown of Napoleon now grants 200 Gold per Age when a Formal War is declared against the player, up from 100 Gold.
- Example: Merchant’s Saddle now grants +1 Movement for Scouts, Merchants, Settlers, and Explorers.
UI & Quality-of-Life Improvements
- Updated text descriptions for various Unique Buildings, Civics, and Units.
- The Tech and Civic trees now properly align with their respective nodes.
- Tooltips now remain within screen boundaries, preventing text cutoff issues.
- Leader portraits now update correctly when Relationship statuses change.

New Paid DLC: Crossroads of the World Collection (DLC 1-3)
The Crossroads of the World Collection is the first paid expansion for Civilization VII, available separately or included with the Deluxe Edition and Founders Edition. The DLC introduces:

- Abilities: Scientific and Cultural bonuses tied to Mastery completion.
- Unique Agenda: Prefers civilizations with the most Masteries, dislikes those with the least.
